Chapter 2 Summary By:Sha'Niece Tabb After, reading chapter 2 it gave me a better understanding on things and it also made me look at my situations different now. I love how they talked about so many subjects. I agree with the book when it talks about how if the counselor can relate to the patient it can make things easier. I also like the "Personal Characteristics of Effective Counselors" because i feel like if you have a game plan on how things should play out with your patient everything should go well. I like where it states that the counselor should be completely honest,i believe that's a major part in things, because that's how i would want someone to be with me and not just tell me things they know i want to hear. On page 23 I like the "Value Imposition"because the patient's values, beliefs, and behaviors will play a big role in things.
In response to Sha'Niece I agree with you on having a game plan on how things should turn out and what you would do in the scenario but I don't agree with the fact that you said everything will go well with a game plan because that is not always true you should always have a plan abc and z just in-case your game plan doesn't work.
In response to Sha'Niece, I agree completely. If you have have a game plan then it should go well and if it's not then either we as the conselor or the patient has to make some changes to our approach. As you also said, a counselor should be completely, honest because in my opinion there is no other way to be.
