Chapter 12 was about feminist therapy. The goal of this therapy is to keep women from being passive and dependent. Even though this therapy was created for women, it can also apply for men. in this therapy, the therapist encourage clients to identify and express their feelings, to become aware of the ways they relinquish power in relationships with others. I like how this therapy deals with women using their power responsibly.
In reply to Kambaja, I agree with you on how this particular therapy allow women to use their power responsibly. It is good that women are being taught different ways to handle situations without their being some form of consequence behind it. This is good for women because it allows them to learn more about what they're options may be as oppose to handling a situation a way that may not be appropriate for them. Also some people believe that most women do not know the different ways they can handle a situation responsibly so this therapy will definitely help them in doing so.
In response to Kam, I like the goal that this therapy is for to help women from being passive and being more dependent. I also agree with you when you said you like that it deals with women using their power
In response to kam, I like the statement you made about this theory and it's goal to not have women be passive and dependent. That's what I liked most about it because I feel that women need to be strong. We have a lot to deal with and go through and most of that is because we are not men. But if we can have an independence along with strength then we can kind of break the seam against women be inferior to men.
In response to kambaja,I like how you mention that this therapy not only for women, it is for men too. I also like when the therapist encourage clients to identify and express their feelings.
Chapter 12 talks about Feminist therapy. It talks about liberal, cultural, radical, social, post modern, women of color, lesbian and global feminists. All of these theories involve women helping each other overcome situations that makes other genders, cultures, or social class look down on them, or believe they are not good enough. They address issues and believe in equalizing power. Feminist therapists work to help individual clients make changes in their lives but also help them toward social change that will help society from stereotyping. I like this therapy because the overall perspective of this type of therapy is to empower women. In the therapeutic process, I like all the different ways a feminist therapist can help a client, and to help them make changes if their is any that needs to be made.
In response to Alena, I also like this therapy because again it deals with empowering women. sometimes its hard to change our environment and how society treat women. so since its hard to do so, its best that women are empowered through this therapy in order to take any bias or unfair thing that the society shoot at them.
In response to alena, I agree whole heartedly with you when you say that liberal, cultural, radical, social, post modern, women of color, lesbian and global feminists are aspects that we as women can help each other overcome. Even though we all differ in many ways the fact that we are all women living in a society where it is frowned upon to be a women connects us internally.
Chapter 12 was about Feminist therapy this therapy does not have a founded . this therapy is based on six interrelated principles such as the personal is political, commitment to social change, women's voices and ways of knowing are valued and their experiences are honored, the counseling relationship is egalitarian, a focus on strengths and a reformulated definition of psychological distress, and all types of oppression are recognized.
In response to Molly, I like how this therapy focuses on strengths of women. Even though we all kno this theory applies to men as well, but I would like to talk more on the female aspect of this therapy because I am a female. This form of therapy gives women the chance to be able to speak up when we feel no one is listening. it allows us to be heard. it gives us different ways to view things as women. I like this form of therapy and talking about the woman aspect only because society makes it seem as women are beneath men. which is not true, and this type of therapy helps women and encourages them to be open and have a voice as well as being independent.
Chapter 12 was about feminist therapy. I like the idea of this therapy because it helps women from every angle in dealing with themselves. It also helps them to be dependent and that can be empowering for women who are passive.
In response to Danielle, that's why I like this therapy because it deals with empowerment of women. some women feel inferior to men because of what the society portray men to be; the society portrays them as being the stronger and better ones. And that's why I think some women need to be empowered so they can feel more comfortable in this jacked up society.
In response to Danielle when you said that this therapy helps women from every angle in dealing with themselves. i would like to inform you that this therapy also helps men and its not just with themselves but with the gender roles and stereotypes that society gives to them. like i told Shaniece.
In response to kambaja I believe this theory helps women to be independent opposed to being dependent because of the empowerment of over coming barriers.
Chapter 12 was about helping women through therapy. and helping them gain empowerment and be dependent. I like this therapy because it helps deal with women overcoming different situations.

Chapter 12 is on Feminist therapy. It was created based on the challenges and the arising needs of women. Therapists of this genre feel that we should consider the social, cultural, and political aspect of a person's environment.
feminist therapy talks a lot about empowerment of females in social political, cultural context, and many other issues. one of the therapeutic techniques I found quit interesting was the gender role intervention; this technique focuses on how society views beauty. according to the text society views of beauty is unrealistic, and portrays the ultimate beauty of a women as of being very thin, with long straight hair and so fourth. and that children as young as elementary school are pressured with this image of this is what beauty consists of.
