After reading chapter 14, It talks bout the differences between the individual & systemic therapy. I like adlerian point when he talks about the kids birth order, i believe that plays a big part in things also. The structural family therapy is good also because i feel like interactional patterns,or sequence within a family has a lot do with how things go about and why the family feels the way they do.
In response with shaniece when you said " I like adlerian point when he talks about the kids birth order, i believe that plays a big part in things also." i agree with you and I think that the way he describes it is so true. it might not be true for every family but from my experience with my family it is true also from being the middle child.
Chapter 14 talks about how family system therapy helps a client to connect with other family members. the role of the therapist is to educate and collaborate with everyone in the family to look for possible help for the family. I like this therapy because it gives each family member a chance to say whatever they couldn't say at home and to express their true feelings toward one another. And each family member will learn something new about each other that they didn't know before.
in response to kam, I also agree with you on this type of therapy. it allows the client to get comfortable with their therapist first, then bring the other family members in to talk. there may be some things the client may not want to express around the family so the individual therapy sessions will be good.
In response to kambaja, I agree with you that family system therapy do help the client connect with other family members.I also like when you said this therapy gives each family member a chance to say whatever they couldn't say at home and to express their true feelings toward one another.
In response to kam, i like the chapter i like how each family memeber gets to connect with each other and learn more things about each other i think that would be very helpful to one another.
Chapter 14 was about family system therapy. This therapy wasn't founded by one person but was created by many people. This therapy believes it is critical to consider clients within their family. They believe that an individuals dysfunctional behavior grows out of the interactional unit of the family as well as the larger community and societal systems. In my opinion this therapy wont be effective unless the whole family is willing to go to the therapy and participate.
In response to Molly, I agree that this therapy wont work if some members of the family is not welling to go. And some might not want to go because they don't feel comfortable or that they feel that it is unnecessary for them to go. And it can only be affective if each family member is honest about their feelings.
chapter 14 it talks about family system therapy.Family system therapy form of counseling which specializes in treating family relationships. In this therapy help increase self-esteem of all family members and help family members better understand each other.I think this therapy make you bond closer to family.
In response to Jeff, I also think that this type of therapy can be good for families to become closer. I think it can strengthen the relationship with families to make them understand each other in a more positive way.
I too agree with the method of the family system therapy. and I also like the fact that this therapy has the ability to bond families together and help them to potentially become closer.
In response to jeff, i like how it builds there self esteem i think that would be good one there behalf because they might feel comfortable saying what they finally have to say
In response to Jeff, I like the way you phrasing. I think that in order for the family to truly get along then the therapists job is to help each family member gain some self esteem, give them all a voice and potentially as you said help them to understand each other in a more positive way.
Chapter 14 is about family therapy. I personally like this therapy because I think it can help people come together to resolve their issues. I think that the therapist can help them out in ways they cant help themselves. Like I mentioned in class sometimes when a family or a group of people cant get along or have unresolved issues with each other sometimes an outside source can help with the problem.
In response to Danielle i agree and disagree with you i feel as if the therapist could help or hurt the family. i think having an outside source help with the families problems could be good if the whole family is willing to cooperate but it could be bad for the therapist if their not willing to participate.
family system therapy focus on a family approach to therapy opposed to individual therapy, and is also a short termed solution and is basicly put in place to deal with here and now present situations. in my opinion I believe this therapy can be effective for clients and family members who are willing to communicate, compromise, and set aside attitudes and criticisms.
in response to shabrita l, I also agree that this type of therapy is for families that are all willing to participate and set aside any ill feelings towards one another. This kind of therapy would not be for families that need be forced into therapy because the family will not get the full value of the session as needed.
In response to Shabrita, I agree 100%. This therapy is a very short term solution. In fact, if everyone isn't willing to like Alena said, set aside ill feelings and give the a real shot then it's effect is limited.
chapter 14 talks about family systems therapy. This therapy deals with the interaction of the family as a whole. This type of therapy believes that the clients patterns of behavior may be influenced by the members of the family or family as a whole. Some of these behaviors can be learned and unknown of what type of negative impact it is having amongst the family. This form of therapy has two approaches. they are systematic and individual. I like these approaches because it allows the client to have a one on one talk with the therapist, then bring other family members into the situation.
In response to Alena, I also like the systematic approach because it prevents a lot of arguments. I think a person feels more comfortable opening up to the therapist when it is just them two, instead of everybody in the family being there. And it also allows for the therapist to know each person's side of the story.
In response to Alena,I agree with you this therapy deals with the interaction of the family as a whole. Also agree with this therapy does have two approaches systematic and individual This therapy can really help each family express their true feeling about each other
Chapter 14 speaks on family therapy. This therapy deals with the families as a whole. It's goal is to give everyone a voice. I personally like the Adlerian approach because it sort of focuses on the fact that the children's behavior is heavily influenced by birth order. I think that it is important for the parents to treat all the children the same no matter who was first or last. The more emphasis you put on one is not only unfair but is potentially a crutch.
